Problem:

chimaera1980 wrote:When I try to launch the game, I'm getting an error:

"The program can't start because solidcore32.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."

Solution:

mr-tom wrote:Hmm. Wonder whether that could have anything to do with the Solidshield DRM?

chimaera1980 wrote:Turns out F-Prot had quarantined the solidcore32.dll file. Moral of the story here is check your A/V quarantine after installing DRM protected games. (Turning off A/V on an internet facing machine is not a solution, before anyone thinks of suggesting it!)

Polite note to any game developers/publishers reading this: get rid of DRM. It doesn't stop the pirates and just annoys legimitate purchasers!

Problem:

Graphical error:

I am having trouble playing the game as i cant really see whats going on

image is below was taken from 'house vs house' but is the same for single player haven't tried multi player;
Image

i have installed once before on one hard drive with the same problem, so i re-installed on my solid state.

All sounds, load up screen, loading time is all fine, plus i experience no warnings.

Solution:

Check to see if You have enabled AA in the driver. If not set to application controlled then You might see that graphical error.

Problem:

No sound or incorrect sound in game

Solution:

So far, checking your drivers and updating if possible seems the best bet. This will be updated if other solutions present themselves.

Steam: The game is currently unavailable, please try again later

Quick Version:

FocusTechSupport wrote:I see the error "This game is currently unavailable" when launching a game through Steam. What can I do?
Please click https://support.steampowered.com/kb_art ... -wexn-6831 and follow the instructions.

For any problem with the game and Steam, please click https://support.steampowered.com/index.php

Long Version:

Problem:

Touchmydog wrote:I have contacted Steam customer support but in the meantime, if anyone can help me overcome the following, it would be much appreciated.

On starting the game, I get the following message and have done for 6 hours now.

*The game is currently unavailable, please try again later"

I am in the UK if that makes a difference.

I have already tried restarting Steam and verifying local game content which validated successfully

I have attached a screenshot

Touchmydog wrote:hi

thanks for your reply

pls note I have now tried all of these steps and it still doesnt work

when I try to start the game by clicking the application file in the game folder I get the following message.
I have tried running the program as an administrator with full permissions on the folder.
(see attached file)

Please open REDIST folder, right mouse click vcredist_x86.exe application file and click Run as administrator in order to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable. This library is required to run AGOT.
This library is installed automatically when you run the game for the first time, but it seems that this didn't happen for you.

FocusTechSupport wrote:Did you got an answer from the technical support of Steam?

Otherwise, I see in your 2nd screenshot that there is no game icon for AGOT.EXE application file.
In my game folder, I have the game icon but we have the same file size (23 868 KB):

Did you got the game activation window? What is your antivirus?
It seems that your AGOT.EXE application file is blocked or something like that.

FocusTechSupport wrote:Did you bought the game directly from Steam or did you bought the DVD version?
This problem is under investigation. Please send us your activation key to: support@agot-genesis.com

We are very sorry for the inconvenience.

Cinematics not shown when game begins

Postby mr-tom » Tue 4 Oct 2011 06:56

Problem:

Cinematics not shown when game begins

More detail:

Motoki wrote:I cannot get the videos to play for me. I just get a black screen when the game starts. No company logos, no intro video, just black. If I hit escape I do get to the main screen however the opening videos, even if short are part of the game and I would like them to play.

I suppose I could install some huge codec pack and see if that helps but I would rather not do that because I have had problems from doing that in the past with conflicts.

I was wondering if someone could just tell me specifically which codec this games AVIs use and I could just download that specific one.

Main Solution:

bleedo wrote:It surprised me a bit, but the culprit was actually my DivX installation.
I uninstalled DivX player with all codecs and other additions, et voila, the cinematics (at least intro) works.
Also in 1920x1280.

Gonna start over and see if I can't get some story as soon as I click submit. :)
[edit] Note to self: when you only see three files in a video folder, don't assume they packed the rest in some fancy data file, there are none. :( [/edit]

If this doesn't solve it for you, try downloading GSpot and click the fancy [1], [2] etc. buttons under M/A on one of the files in [gameroot]\Data\Videos. That might give you a DirectShow error code you can go google. :)

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/gener ... .cfm/gspot
C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\a game of thrones\Data\Videos
^ (x86) possibly

Good luck!

- bleedo

Workaround:

Michlo wrote:Here is the utterly disappointing "fix".

Try going in the folder "My documents", you should find a folder named "Agot"
In that folder, edit the "config.xml" file using Notepad.Around the line 28, change

<Cinematics>
<Enable>1</Enable>
</Cinematics>

to

<Cinematics>
<Enable>0</Enable>
</Cinematics>

Apparently game can't handle 1920X1200 for cinematics... :(
