Black Terrain

Hi all, I have had a looksie through the tech forum and could not find an answer to this problem (I may have overlooked it :S )

Basically the problem is the terrain is black, I can not see the land at all. Again I have tried selecting, de-selecting and changing of the options, my graphics card is a Nvidia Geforce 7900 GS if that helps, drivers are up to date.

I have sent an email to the support team, but I thought I would jot it down here, see if anyone has a solution.

I have the same video card and the same problem and haven't found a fix.

edit: Tried the solution below many times with different drivers old/new and none of them work.

I had the same problem. I had to update my drivers and the support team posted a fix. I'm not sure if it works but perhaps you should give it a try.

I have the problem sometimes when I Alt+Tab to the desktop and then go back. It usually disperses after a few seconds, but still...

I hear they're trying to fix this problem in the next patch, but I could be wrong. I have the same problem, but I have an Intel 4 series graphics card, which is not supported. I hope they get this fixed soon, or I'll have to continue playing the game in darkness...

One nifty trick I could teach you guys is to raise the graphics setting in the options to low, then switch it back immediate after it restarts to very low, and it should display the graphics a little better than before, though still messed up...

I have exactly the same probplems on my 2 computers ( one destop and one laptop) ...the train is shown as black. I have a 8800 Geforce on destop and i guess a 8700 on my laptop. Maybe the Nvidia Cards from that generations have problem whit the game?

I have a similar problem whit: Total War, Shogun 2 ...there i cant see the borderline between the provinces.

Do you guys think that it will be fixed whit a coming steam update?...i mean the black train thing. Its really annoying and depressing cause the game *agot* seems to be cool...but i cant play it on black train.

Problem may not be the game (or it might be!)

What date are your graphics drivers? If they are not the latest, that could be the cause for both games.

i have had same problem and i solved it putting quality on very bad/low
