Introductions

Postby mr-tom » Sun 19 Jun 2011 21:07

All,

Apologies if I missed it, but I couldn't see an introductions thread.

Guessing that the off topic area is the most suitable home.

Just wanted to say that I've been considering this game since I saw a preview in PC Gamer a month or so ago and was suitably intrigued.

I've not yet pre-ordered, but may well do.

Tom.

Welcome Adan.

And don't apologise for your English - it is far better than any of my foreign languages will ever be. :D

Hello,

My name is Jeremiah from the U.S.A.. Pre-ordered the game. Have read all five books. Have played the AGoT Board and Card games.

(Note: the board game is everything Risk ever wanted to be, but will leave everyone playing angry before the end of it. The card game uses the LCG [living card game] model, so you don't have to buy hundreds of packs to get the cards you want, but you do have to buy everything that has been released [and multiple copies in some cases] if you want access to all the cards.)

It is always a wonder to see how many people love GRRM's books. I enjoyed the HBO series, but am not as much of a fan of them as the books (who would be?).

I hope the game exceeds everyone's expectations, but even if it doesn't, I'm sure it will be good enough to be worth what I paid. GRRM did have his hand in this after all (though to what extent is indeed a possible issue).

I'd say you can play the board game at any time, but there are cards depicting characters in the book, and it might spoil future characters if that bothers you.

The card game will do the same thing, and some of the cards may not make sense if you haven't read the books (like Targaryen Attachment "Bones of a Child").

In the end, it is more-or-less just what you consider a spoiler. If hearing about a character before you've read about them is a spoiler, I wouldn't recommend either (at least until the end of the third book for the board game) until you've read the books. If not... they shouldn't be too bad.
